Re: Team v Newcastle
We do look more solid with three CBs but we don't score many in that formation either. It's negative park the bus football and we've had an entire summer to get a squad in place to play attacking football and defend competently.

Bilic has failed to identify personnel that are up to it and can't seem to get the team to string three passes together, even against the likes of Cheltenham. I can see him reverting to a three at some point to try to keep his job but maybe not yet. Dead man walking.

Scrappy draw. Team is irrelevant as we're so poor everywhere.

Cannot see him going 3 at the back, think he would have tried
that out on Wednesday.

But you never know with Bilic.

I think we're more solid with a back 3, Slav went with 3 at the back last season after a few mauling's so after conceding 7 in 2 Slav needs to go with 3 centre halfs..

I'd go with Byram as wing back as he done ok the other night & his got the legs to play that role whereas I don't think zab has.. Bryam is supposedly highly regarded within the club so he now needs to show what's his capable of.. He still needs to improve on the defensive side of his game so with Zab behind him that could help him..

I'd drop Noble on the back of Rice's recent form, I think we need to give him a wee run whilst his confidence is high. I'd also go with Obiang as he plays the holding role better then Noble.

If Lanzini is fit then for me he starts ahead of Ayew, Lanzini & Hernadez could link up well & you can see em causing Newcastle problems.. We've certainly got goals in us but first & foremost we need to get solid..

Geordies away would normally fill me with dread.. .especially having just been promoted.
But they are dogshit..no real quality to speak of...and an owner possibly more despised than ours...so we should win comfortably.

Geordies 3 - the gift that keeps on giving 1

North Bank - only change I would make to your 'team' is Sakho for Ayew, I thought he was excellent on Wednesday and deserves a run in the premiership now.

I was thinking the very same

I think we are better with 3 at the back now we have an established right wing back, I'd drop noble as well

Re: Team v Newcastle
This is what Slav said about Lanzini:

“But he is definitely going to be involved in the squad, and we will see how much we use him."

That probably means he'll be on the bench and will probably come on at some point 2nd half.

I wouldn't play Ayew though I'd play Sakho on the right

Re: Team v Newcastle
Surely if Ayew plays he'll play on the right and Antonio the the left.
